Mawlānā Hafiz Qari Musa Vali Patel (May Allah elevate his status)

—————————————-
The horrific terrorist attack on the innocent Muslims of New Zealand send shock waves across the world. Muslims and non-Muslims were saddened and petrified by the news.
It was on Friday, the Muslims’ holiest day, and at the time just before Jumu’ah the most important prayer of the week.
Around 50 people lost their lives in this barbaric act of terrorism.
From those individuals who sadly passed away was one of the leaders of the Muslims, Imām Mawlānā Hafiz-o-Qari Musa Vali (‘alayi Rahmah).
I was not aquatinted with this personality until I heard about him from his cousins who live here in Bolton, UK.
Born in Luwara, a small town in Gujarat, India, in 1959, Mawlānā Hafiz Musa studied the initial Madrasa education at his local Madrasa.
He later went to Darul Uloom Moinul Islam where he completes his memorisation of the Holy Qur’ān and other Islamic sciences.
From there, he enrolled at the well-known institute in the city of Ahmedabad, Darul Uloom Shah-e-Alam.
He didn’t stay there for long as he then went to Jamia Al-Islamiyyah founded by Hazrat Allama Qamruzzaman Khan Azmi.
The reason why he enrolled at the Jamia is because his cousins back in UK asked Allama Hanif Razwi Alayhi al-Rahmah (former Imam and Khateeb Noorul Islam, Bolton) about furthering Hafiz Musa’s studies. By his recommendation, Hafiz Musa went to Jamia Islamiyya andhe wanted to go Jamia Azhar, Cairo, was unable to do so.
Thereafter he was blessed to study at the centre of Ahlus Sunnah, the resting place of Imam Ahmed Ridā RadiAllāhu Anhu, namely Bareily sharif.
He then got married and started to teach at various institutes in Gujarat.
Facing the problem of supporting the family, Mawlānā Hafiz Musa then left India, and moved to Fiji Islands to guide, educate the Muslims and propagate the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.
Few things to note about his stay in Fiji Islands:
* Served as an Imām and teacher in one Mosque for 37 years.
* He was responsible of making 12th Rabiul Awwal (Mawlid) a national holiday in Fiji Islands.
* He would represent the Muslims of Fiji Islands and the government recognised his achievements.
* He called many Ulamā from abroad to support his cause in preserving and propagating the prestige teachings of Ahlus Sunnah.
* He would be called to meet international dignitaries and politicians to represent the Muslim community.
After 37 years, having all children married off, Mawlānā Hafiz Musa then decided to move to New Zealand, closer to family members.
The day he left Fiji Islands, hundreds of Muslims from his community came to bid farewell at the airport, not realising the fact that this would be their last meeting with him.
He arrived at New Zealand 3-4 weeks ago.
The community requested him to deliver a speech as a guest Imām on Friday the 15th.
Mawlānā Hafiz Musa prepared for the Friday prayers.
He went to the masjid earlier, and was waiting in the prayer hall before he could stand up to deliver his speech.
Unfortunately it was destined that the most horrific massacre the history of New Zealand was to take place at that very moment in that very Masjid.
The terrorist entered the Mosque and opened fire using semi-auto machine gun.
Mawlānā Hafiz Musa was one of many who came under fire. A bullet hit him at the back. He was taken to hospital but remained in ICU. He fought for his life, but sadly, the doctors announced his demise on Saturday morning.
He passed away in state of Ghusl and Wudu, in a masjid (the best place of earth) on a Friday (the best day of the week) whilst waiting to deliver a speech (“The best amongst you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others” Hadīth).
Indeed he attained martyrdom.
‎انا لله و انا اليه راجعون
Possibility he prayed for such a blessed death like we all do.
This is a short biography on his life to recognise his work.
May Allah elevate his status, may his family patience and enable them to carry on with his mission.
